Do I Need a Licensed Installer for Security Systems in NSW?

The short answer is yes — in NSW, installing security systems is a licensed trade.

Under NSW law, anyone installing, maintaining or servicing security equipment — including CCTV, alarm systems and access control — must hold a valid Security Licence issued by NSW Fair Trading. Companies operating in this space also require a Master Licence.

At BG Networking & Security Solutions we hold both. Master Licence A049114 and Security Licence S00001888.

Why does it matter?

Insurance.

If you make a home insurance claim following a break-in, your insurer may ask how your security system was installed. An unlicensed installation can give them grounds to reduce or deny your claim.

Accountability.

Licensed installers are bound by industry standards and are legally accountable for their work. Unlicensed operators have no such obligation.

Peace of mind.

You know the person entering your home or business is verified, trained and legally authorised to do the work.

You can verify any security licence through the NSW Fair Trading website.

If you’d like a free quote from a licensed installer serving the Northern Beaches, North Shore and Eastern Suburbs — call or msg Gionatan on 0431 352 391.
